THIS POSITION WILL START IN THE 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR.

 

Comstock Park is seeking candidates who display a strong desire and ability to make an impact on students and the greater community both within and outside of the classroom.

 

SUMMARY:

Serves as Athletic Secretary to the Athletic Director and as a facilitator for the school and community in regard to communication of information, problem solving, material acquisitions, cash handling and record keeping.  This is an extremely high-profile position in the building and the district.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as confidential athletic secretary to the athletic director and administration.
  • Facilitates order and requisition of supplies and materials for all staff and programs.
  • Distributes mail, materials and supplies.
  • Prepares and distributes written communications - includes items such as letters, website, memos, newsletters, daily announcements, etc.
  • Operates standard office equipment.
  • Maintains records and files both in hard copy and electronic form following district, county and state guidelines.
  • Manages building key inventory.
  • Facilitates and maintains schedules of all common instructional spaces using on-line resources.
  • Attends in-service training as stipulated by contract.
  • Manages office, providing smooth and safe operation.
  • Maintains building calendars, schedules appointment and events.
  • Facilitates substitute teacher procedures including management of Red Rover.
  • Assists in ensuring all classrooms support positions are covered each day.
  • Processes/assists with payroll for the department.
  • Orders, processes and maintains materials and equipment.
  • Collects monies, make deposits, request checks and balances internal accounts.
  • Prepares and submits reports.
  • Assist and facilitate distribution, completion and submission of addendum contracts.
  • Assists in the management of building emergency and security procedures.
  • Reports and requests needed repair.
  • Support and assist the building principal in all necessary duties.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. 
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

     Acts as liaison between school and community, parents, staff, and students

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. 
  • Monitoring and adhering to all school and district policies regarding student sign out and entry into school.
  • Assist visitors, parents, students and staff – answers questions, responds to requests, and resolves issues.
  • Monitoring and communicating student absences and tardies particularly related to unexcused absences, excessive tardies, and absences.
  • Communicating with parents regarding students at risk of losing credit, not walking in graduation, and students at risk of not graduating on time.
  • Monitoring and distribution of all medications according to policy and regulations.
  • Provides appropriate first aid needs.
  • Monitoring, Scheduling, and Collaborating to assign all facilities to for rental purposes districtwide.
  • Facilitates and attends after school and/or evening functions as needed.
  • Maintains quarterly honor roll.
  • Maintains and manages student debt list.
  • Manages student academic awards program by monitoring and tracking student GPA’s as well as other academic data.
  • Organizes and facilitates student recognition programs.
  • Contacts parents regarding behavior, etc. according to school policy.
  • Ability to speak Spanish (preferred).

     Provide support to the athletic department as needed to include:

  • Scheduling transportation.
  • Scheduling and monitoring event officials and volunteers.
  • Managing internal accounts and other monetary processes.
  • Answering phones and facilitating communication.
  • Monitoring and facilitating athletic eligibility.
  • Completing athletic reports.
  • Assist in the organization and execution of awards and recognition programs.

      Ability to operate a personal computer and related software.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Power School or like products, filing reports electronically, and willingness to learn new software programs (attendance, budget, etc.). 

     Acts as liaison between the school and central office to assure state pupil     

     accounting requirements are met.

  • Monitoring, running, maintaining all student attendance and state-required pupil account reports for headcount twice a year.
  • Creating, running, maintaining, updating all student data reports in PowerSchool.
  • Place all disciplinary and attendance related data entry into PowerSchool.

     Data and local and state assessment liaison

  • State testing student data entry and monitoring for state testing.
  • Assisting and Collaboration with district pupil accounting and state testing leads.
  • Proficiency in excel the use and applications included within excel including. 
    • data input, creating formulas, lookups, visual data depictions, etc.
    • Serves as confidential Office Clerk to the Dean of Students.
  • Receives visitors, parents, students, and staff, answers questions, responds to requests, and resolves issues.
  • Answers telephone calls, takes messages, routes calls, and responds to routine questions.
  • Strong computer skills to process the Michigan Department of Education reports, such as pupil accounting with district lead.
  • Place all disciplinary and attendance related data entry into PowerSchool.
  • Attends after school and/or evening functions as needed. 
  • Attends in-service training as stipulated by the contract.
  • Maintains calendars for school events.     

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • ETS/Basic Skills test, educational experience, experience which meets the basic skills required of the position - see Appendix B: Basic Skills Assessments in the support staff contract.
